7-Ketologanin, an Iridoid Glucoside from Fruits of Strychnos roborans A. W. HILL

Fruits of Strychnos roborans A. W. HILL (Loganiaceae) contained a large amount of 7-ketologanin, the structure of which was determined by comparison of the spectral data of its tetraacetate with those of an authentic tetraaceatate. The completely assigned proton nuclear magnetic resonance data of 7-ketologanin and its tetraacetate and the carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance data of 7-ketologanin, together with the circular dichroism data of the tetraacetate are reported in this paper for the first time. These data must be useful for distinguishing between 7-ketologanin and the corresponding 8-epimer.
