Studies on Extraction and Determination of Metal Salts with Methyl Isobutyl Ketone. IV : Extraction of Thiocyanate Complexes

Thiocyanate complexes of molybdenum, cobalt, iron, tungsten, vanadium and titanium were extracted with methyl isobutyl ketone in the presence of various amounts of ammonium thiocyanate and hydrochloric acid. Their extractabilities were determined by measuring the amounts of metals remaining in aqueous phase, and the following results were obtained : Percentage extractions of thiocyanate complexes of Mo (V), Co (II) and W (V) with methyl isobutyl ketone were all 99.9 per cent under the most suitable conditions ; that of Fe (III), 99.0 per cent ; W (VI), 99.2 per cent ; V (IV), 77.7 per cent ; V (III), 96.7 per cent V ; (II), 67.0 per cent ; Ti (IV), 94.6 per cent and Ti (II), 95.8 per cent.
