A rapid determination of aluminium in iron and steel was studied by photometry. After the dissolution of sample and forming complexes of ferrous and other ions with potassium cyanide, aluminium ion was converted into oxinate, extracted with benzene, and determined photometrically. The time required for the determination of 0.1〜2 per cent of aluminium was about twenty minutes.
