Studies on the Determination of Germanium. I : Spectrographic Determination of Germanium in Ores by the Intermittent Arc Method

The samples of ores were dissolved in nitric acid, germanium was separated from the main constituents and the main part of hydrochloric acid by distillation, and, after neutralization, cupric chloride solution was added to the distillate as an internal standard. The solution was absorbed by carbon electrode, which was then excited by the intermittent arc method. By this method, 0.0005〜0.008 per cent of germanium in the solution could be successfully determined. The line pair of Cu 2618.37/Ge 2651.18・was used for analysis.
