Determination of Metals by Oxine Solution Using High Frequency Titration

The determination of metal ions directly with oxine solution was carried out by using a high frequency titration apparatus. By plotting the amount of the titration and reading microammeter on a graph, the equivalent point of the solution titrated was thereby obtained allowing easy and rapid determination without the use of an indicator. It was found that the use of a buffer solution composed of acetic acid and sodium acetate stabilized the movement of μA needle. By titration with approximately 0.02N standard oxine solution, successful determination of copper, zinc, aluminium, and iron was carried out in concentrations of 0.02N copper 0.1-0.05N zinc, 0.1-0.05N aluminium, and 0.02N iron solutions.
