High Frequency Titration of Some Metals with Potassium Chloride and Potassium Cyanide Solution

Titrations of silver, mercury and ferrous salts with standard potassium chloride and potassium cyanide solution were studied, by using the high frequency titration apparatus. It was found that titration of silver nitrate solution in 0.1〜0.01N solution at pH 5.0〜5.4, mercuric nitrate solution in 0.1〜0.01N solution at pH 5.6〜5.8, and ferrous chloride solution in 0.025〜0.005N solution at pH 4.2-4.6 gave good results. In the case of the ferrous salt, the use of a citric acid-sodium citrate buffer prevented it from the formation of ferric hydroxide and gave values agreeing well with the theoretical ones.
