Second-Order Vibration Spectra of Amorphous As-Se Systems

The infrared absorption spectra of amorphous As_xSe_<1-x> systems (0〓x〓0.5) were measured in the wave number range 300-600 cm^<-1> at room temperature, and one-mode type behaviours of the absorprion bands were observed. The absorption spectra have broad bands near 490 cm^<-1>, and the spectral shape is well reproduced by the effective self-convolution of the phonon density of states. The absorption coefficient has a maximum value at the stoichiometric composition As_2Se_3, in good correspondence with that of the main band near 225 cm^<-1> . Hetero-bondings and pyramidal units are predominant in these systems.
