(+)-(2R, 3R)-7-Formyl-6-methoxy-2-methoxymethyl-3-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin (2), a key building block for the total synthesis of haedoxan A, was synthesized from (4R)-4-(phenylmethyl)-2-ox-azolidinone (3) in ten steps with a 12% overall yield.
