Frequency Coupling Model for Dynamics of Responses to Stimuli in Plasmodium of Physarum Polycephalum

Gathering or escaping behavior in the plasnaodiunu of Physarum polyceph.alurn is considered torelate to an entrainrnent of the cotrpled nonlinear oscillators. The behavior has been explainedto be caused by the formation of' phase gradient betxveen those oscillators, which results frornthe local frequency rnodulation at the stimtrlated site. However, it has not yet been elttcidatedhow the formation process relates to the naigration of' the pJaszauoditm?n. In this paper, xve haveintrodtrced a model with freqtrency cottpling besides the phase coupling in the system of coupledoscillators. By the siunulation, we have shown that not only the phase gradient but also theconcentration gradient of substances such as Ca" and ATP are self-organized and their reverseIcy the stirntrltrs resttlts in the rnigration of plasmoditrnu.
