A System for the Analysis of Aerial Photographs and Their Preprocessing

This paper is concerned with the analysis of multispectral aerial photographs by an image processing system on a minicomputer. The system is powerful with the hardware FFT, large high speed external core memory, and interactive color image display device. The color image display system is composed of a color/black-and-white display, two joysticks and several interactive buttons. Several registration algorithms are experimented and the least mean square approximation is found to be best in respect of accuracy and speed. Low pass filter is found to be very effective for the elimination of shading effects on the photographs.
