Nematic liquid crystal cells which have a narrow width nearly the same as thethickness were found to exhibit a self-sustained angle-deflective oscillation of stripepattern above a threshold applied voltage V... The amplitude of the oscillation wasfound to be proportional to (V' - Vf.)"'. The voltage range where the oscillation oc-curs corresponds to the range of the fluctuating Williams domain which is observedfor a rectangular cell with a wide width.
