The flow structure and the velocity profile for vortices formed around a sinkholewere examined by means of the dye visualization method and the Baser Dopplervelocimetry, respectively. A one-celled vortex appeared for small values of the radialReynolds number Re and the swirl ratio S and a two-celled vortex was observed forlarge values of Re and .5. The two-celled vortex was found to turn into a turbulentflow with further increases in Re.
