In a thin layer of a nematic liquid crystal confined within a small aspect ratio cell,window-like coherent states and their subharmonic bifurcations have been found tooccur in a successive transition process of the Williams domain. By an increase of thevoltage applied across the thin layer of the liquid crystal, the Williams domainbecomes unstable and two types of coherent pattern oscillations OSI and OS2 appearsuccessively. In the region of OSI, the pattern oscillation repeats the window-likecoherent states and their subharmonic bifurcations. The oscillation 0S2 showsanother pattern behavior different from the OSI.
