The sound velocity, V., in liquid In.Te. and Ga.Te, has been measured as a func-tion of temperature to study the thermodynamics of the structural changes of theseliquid semiconductors. V. has been used to deduce the dependence on temperature ofthe isothermal compressibility, which has been found to have a maximum in accordwith the thermodynamic relations derived previously. The transition enthalpy isevaluated to be 8.5 kJ / mol for In.Te, and 9.2 kJ / mol for Ga.Te,.
