Theory of the Normal State Hall Effect in Copper Oxide Superconductors

The anomalous behavior of the Hall effect in the normal sLaYc: of La. ..Sr..Cu0. isinvestigated theoretically based on the recently calculated re',u1[s that 'B,. is theground state of Cub, cluster in l,a. .Sr..CuO. for x >0.1. Fittin(g the transfer interaclion of 'B.. cluster in La. ...Sr..CuO. to the a'p band in the LDz'X band structure, wefirst note that the band width of a'(. band, about 0.8 e'V, is much smaller than the Hub-bard U interaction between a'l,'. holes. Then the ,v-dependence of the Hall coefficient iscalculated within the Htubbard I approximation for T=O K. l-he calculated resultsshow that, (1) the Hall coefficient at T=O K behaves inversely a:,x in the low Sr concentratuon region up to x -0.05, (2) it deviates downwards from X7x in the regionabove x -0.05, and (3) it changes the sign from ?>ositive to :vegative at x=O.42.Anomalous temperature depenclence is also discussed.high-7-. superconductor, Hall effect, Sr concentration depenclence, sign change
