Temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation time T.. of 'D in a rotatingframe has been measured in ammonium perchlorate ND.Cl0. and NH. .D.Cl0.(.X"=0.8). The temperature dependences of T.. show minima due to the effect of rarespin "0 (0.037% in natural abundance). The relaxation in ND.Cl0. is of single exponential type, while in partially deuterated NH. .D..ClO., it is of an extremely nonexponential type. It was found that the relaxation rate T..' due to "0 spin in partiallydeuterated NH. .D.Cl0. is enhanced by about 10 times that of pure ND.ClO..Because of this enhancement, the measurement of T.. of 'D in partially deuteratedcompounds is useful for confirming the relaxation via rare nuclear-spin and investigating the dynamic motion of oxygen atoms.
