Anisotropy of T_<1D> and T_<1p> of Tetrahedrally Coordinated Four-Spin-1/2 System

The anisotropy of the spin-lattice relaxation time T.. of dipolar energy, that7'1/, in the rotatins frame and that 7'1 in the hish masnetic field have been studiedin tetrahedrally coordinated four-spin-172 system. The expression of T.. and T..is presented when tetrahedron reorientates about the four three-fold axes andthree two-fold axes. The anisotropy of T.. and T., of protoua spins in NH.Cl andNH.Br has been measured and compared with the present model of relaxationtimes. The measurement of T.. is more useful because of the larger anisotropy todetermine the model of the reorientation of NH.-ion than that of T.. and T3.The present model is in good agreement with the experimental results in NH.Cl,but the agreement is worse in NH.Br. Some possible origins for the disagreementin the latter case are discussed. We have also compared the present model ofspin-lattice relaxation times with those which were derived by the other authors.
