NMR study of the dynamic motion of oxygen atoms in solids is not readily accessible because of the poor natural abundance (0.037%) of "0 spins. We report that thisstudy is possible by the measurement of T.. in some solids thanks to two kinds of in-teractions (A) and (B): (A) modulation of the dipole-dipole interaction between 'Hand "0 spins by rotational diffusion (reorientation) of ions containing oxygen atomsand (B) the cross relaxation between 'H and "O spins. T.. of 'H has been measured insome solids, (NH.).S.O., NH.HS0., KHSO. and NH.CH.Cl0.. Owing to the interac-lion (A), we may infer the detail for the reorientation of ions containing oxygenatoms, and determine the spin-lattice relaxation time and the quadrupole couplingconstant e'qQ/h of "0 owing to the interaction (B): the values of e'qQ/h are 9.6MHz and 9.7 MHz in (NH.).S,0. and NH,CH.Cl0., respectively.
