We have studied pulsed plaotoconductivity Q(T, 2) of undoped solid C,. atT= 4. 2 - 300 K an d 2 = 355 - 7 80 nm . An o bservation of the Den ber effect at 2 = 3 5 5nm indicates that dominant photocarriers are electrons. At 25OK, we observed asignificaxat anomaly in Q(T, )) at the structtural plaase transition (from sc to fcc) dueto the orientational order-disorder transformation. This suggests that the naechanisrnof photoconductivity sensitively reflects the change of electronic structure due to rota-tional motion of C,. molecules. We have als<c recognized the critical energy gap at 2.0eV in pulsed photoconductivity of unclopecl C,(, via the temperature dependence ofQ(T, 2) above 250 K excited at various pltoton energies.
