Time-Resolved Luminescence Spectra of Free Excitons in Pure AgBr.III.Energy Relaxation Mechanism

Dynamics of the relaxation of free excitons in pure and well-annealed specimens ofAgBr have been investigated by observing time-resolved luminescence spectra at thetemperature region between 500 mK and 18 K. Experimental results at high tempera-lure region reveal the energy relaxation mechanism which can be explained in termsof the combination of exciton-LA phonon interaction and exciton-exciton collision.With decreasing temperature, the deviation from these situations becomes re-markably evident. This fact, together with a fine structure in the spectra, suggests thatpolaron effects are substantial in the system of free excitons.
