Transformation of Phonon Mode Behaviour in the AgCl_xBr_<1-x>System

Systematic studies of far ixafr'ared reflectioxa spectra and jchotoluminesce?ace spectraof free excitons have been performed in AgCl...Br.-.. mixed crystals at lo'vv tempera-Lures in the coxnposition range x= 0 to l and betw'een ,X'= 0.10 and 0.39, respectively.Reflectioxa spectra exhibit tlae existence of [xvo TO-PIIOIIOII mocles for 0.03 3,v30.50,w1?ereas only one TO-phonon xttode is recognized for x >0.87. Variation of reflectionbands with the composition x undicates the transformation of PIIOIIOO modebehaviour from the two-mode type to tlae one-mode tyjce with increasing x. Photo-luminescence spectra also exltibit the existence of two LO-phc>non modet; in AgBr-rich crystals, 0.123,v:50.27.
