The insulating state of (R., R.-DCNQI).Cu salts sltowing both the mixed valenceof Cu" and Cu" and the three-fold lattice distortion has been examined by themean-field theory to the periodic Anderson model where two one-dimensional con-duction bands with the electron-phonon interaction are coupled to Cu ions. For thechoice of the interaction constant which leads to apprccximately Cu"" as an average,it is shown that modulations of both charge density and spin density coexist in theground state and thal. the phase transition at finite temperature is of tlae first order.
