A Theory of Phase Transitions in Quasi-One-Dimensional Electrons

Phase transitions in quasi-one-dimensional electron systems with imperfectlynested Fermi surface have been investigated. The spin-density-wave (SDW) transitiontemperature is obtained as a function of the degree of imperfect nesting of the Fermisurface. The wave vector of SDW at the transition temperature is shown to changediscontinuously at a critical value of the degree of imperfect nesting. The competitionbetween SDW and various types of superconductivity is also discussed. It is shownthat there are no coexistent state in Ginzburg-Landau region. The application to theorganic conductors, (TMTSF).X, is discussed.
