Crystal-Field Effects on the Periodic Anderson Model by Gutzwiller Approximation

The crystal-field effects on the periodic Anderson model are investigated by meansof the Gutzwiller approximation. The effective mass, the spin susceptibility and thegeneralized charge susceptibilities are numerically evaluated in the Kondo regime forthree different kinds of simple level schemes. It is shown that former two quantitiesare considerably enhanced as the crystal-field splitting is increased. In the sufficientlylarge splitting regime, the analytic expression f'or the mass-enhamtcement factor is ob-tained, which is similar to that for the Kondo temperature in the impurity Andersonmodel.
