Ballistic Transport in the Bent Quantum Wire

The effects of circular bends on ballistic transport in a quantum wire with hard-wallconfinement potential are investigated. By means of the channel-matching method,the scattering matrix is calculated as a function of the Fermi energy. We discuss thedependence of scattering probabilities on the external magnetic field, bending radius,and bending angle. It is shown that the coupling of channels is different for right-turnand left-turn bends in the magnetic field. Furthermore, there appear to be extremelynarrow dips in conductance just below the threshold energies for the next channel.ballistic transport, quantum wire, circular bend, conductance dips
