• A model calculation for the dissociative scattering of hydrogen nnolectrles f'rozn metal svrrfacesis carried out with the aid of tlae Htrbbard rnodel for tlae naetal strTcstrate. The Cotrlonub interacLion between electrons in the sttbstrate is taken accotrnt of xvithin the single-site approximationin calculating the probability distribtrtion of the dissociative scattering. It is shown that theprobability for the dissociative scattering of' Iuydrogen 111010CLIICS increases as tire nuagnitude of'the Cotrlornb interaction between electrons in the naetal substrate is increased.
