Anomalous Temperature Dependence of the Intensity of Brillouin Scattering near the Ferroelectric Phase Transition Point of NH_4LiSO_4

Intensity and shift of the Brillouin scattering due to the longitudinal acousticphonons in NH.LiS0. were measured precisely as functions of temperaturenear the ferroelectric phase transition point (7'.=186.5'C). Anomalous decreaseof the peak ilxtensity was observed around several degrees below T.. This behaviouris interpreted in terms of the conventional Landau-Khalatnikov theory of criticalrelaxation. The relaxation time of the order parameter thus obtained is (0.9.1.0.1)><10 "(7'. -T) 'sec.
