Surface Exciton Polariton in CuCl and CuBr

The surface-exciton-polaritons arc investigated by the atte?tuated-total-reflection(ATR) method on the evaporated flin?s of Curl and CuBr. Double dips observedin the ATR spectra of Curl are attributed to the Z. and 7'..,. excitons. In CuBr,the dip is detected only for the Z.,2 exciton. The characj.eristic features of theATR spectra are well accounted for by the local dieleclric functions for theexcitons. An effect of the finite exciton mass c>n the ATE{ spectra of CuBr isdiscussed.
