Transition from a resonant to a nonresonant parametric deca?y process wasobserved by increasing pumping power for the frequency range ctc..<ct?.<3a..(co.: pump frequency, co..j : lower-hybrid frequency). A resonant backward ioncyclotron wave was excited for 1.5<a./at,.<3 and 1<&/C,<:5 (&: electrondrift velocity, C,: ion acoustic velocity). On the other hand, a no?aresonant iorx-quasimode was excited for ]<a./cta..<2 and U/C.>2.5. These exciting regionscan be also verified by measuring the radial distribution of the amplitudes ofthese decay waves.
