The Geometrical Shape of Hadronic Strings and Overlapping Functions

With a geometrically linear shape for mesons and a Y-shape for baryons, the overlapping function of hadron-hadron scattering is calculated on the assumption that inelastic scattering takes place when a string of the projectile hadorn collides with that of the target. A good fit to experiment is obtained, showing that the "saturation" of the overlapping function in the central region is stronger in proton-proton scattering than in pion-proton and kaon-proton scattering. The geometrically linear shape for baryonic strings does not reproduce the overlapping function of this experiment.
