Five instances of the radical operation for carcinoma of the esophagus by the new method of the authors are reported : All cases used by the total stemach for the restoration of continuity showed a decrease in gastric secretion and acidity after operation. However, in one case with carcinoma of the esophagus normal response of the gastric output and formation of the stomal ulcer were noted after esophagectcmy and total vagotomy.
