By using CO_2 laser system, hemostatic effect of experimentally induced splenic bleeding in dogs was studied. CO_2 laser was effective in stopping the bleeding from spleen. The duration of CO_2 laser exposure required for complete hemostasis was significantly shortened by clamping the splenic artery.
