An improved viscometer method is presented for the determination of the magnetic susceptibility of a liquid with a complete exclusion of the oxygen effect. The method was found to be excellent even in determining the magnetic susceptibilities of diamagnetic liquids, giving results accurate to within ±0.05%. The influence of air (or oxygen) was also discussed.
