Together with 6-О- and 2,3,4,6-tetra-О-galloylglucoses,two unusual gallotannins possessing an α-glucopyranose core have been isolated from the rhizomes of Nuphar japonicm DC. (Nymphaeaceae), and their structures have been established as 1,2,4,-tri-О-galloyl-α-D-glucose (3) and 1,2,3,4,6-penta-О-galloyl-α-D-glucose (6) on the basis or chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
