By culturing in phytotron, the effect of temperature on the growth of Pinellia ternata was studied. 25℃ appeared to be the most favourable for the increase of yield. For the multiplication rate, temperatures slightly lower than 25℃ were more effective. It became evident that when smaller tubers were cultivated at a higher planting density with an application of a higher amount of fertilizer, the tubers, grew rapidly in size. The total number of tubers gradually increased from September to October. The 1,800 tubers planted produced approximately 30,000 tubers after a 2-year-cultivation period.
