Thermally Deactivated-Type High Field Conduction in Poly-p-Xylylene Thin Films Polymerized in Vapor Phase

Electric currents in poly-p-xylylene thin film (300〜400 nm) were found to show a negative temperature dependence at temperatures below the glass transition temperature and at high fields over 〜2 MV/cm. The high field conduction current strongly depended on the electrode metals and was accompanied by electroluminescence emission mainly in the visible region. These phenomena were explained by a model of the hole injection, collision ionization and recombination emission.
