X-Ray Induced Current Transients in α-Form Polyvinylidene Fluoride

X-ray induced current transients in polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) were measured. The initial decay of the induced conductivity after the termination of the X-ray irradiation was approximated by an exponential decay with time constant τ, and the characteristics of τ are discussed. τ was field-dpendpent and had a minimum around 200 kV/cm at 313 K. τ decreased with X-ray intensity under a low field, whereas it remained constant under a high field. These complicated phenomena could be explained consistently in terms of two different kinds of carrier traps, whose existence and field-dependence were reported in our previous study on X-ray-induced thermally-stimulated currents in PVDF.
