A Study on Carrier Traps in Plasma-Polymerized Phenylacetylene

The energy distribution of carrier traps and the photodetrapping process of carriers in plasma-polymerized phenylacetylene (P-PPA) were investigated. The carrier traps were found to be distributed from 1.06 eV below the conduction band and their density increased with the energy depth. Using this trap distribution, the light-intensity dependence of the photocurrent was explained by the Rose model. The carrier detrapping process was understood by applying the Onsager theory. The characteristic thermalization length was estimated to be 1.7 nm.
