Lysine decarboxylase (L-lysine carboxy-lyase, EC 4.1.1.18) was immobilized on the inner surfaces of glass tubes by the use of a photo-crosslinkable resin of an emulsion type. The enzyme tubes thus prepared were used in a continuous flow system to measure the concentration of L-lysine in fermentation broths. The system showed a good response to lysine in the range of 0-8 mM and had a high specificity for lysine. The immobilized enzyme was stable on repeated use for at least 500 assays.
