^<63>Cu NMR Study of Spin Dynamics in La_<2-x>(Sr,Ba)_xCuO_y(0.04≦x≦0.16,3.99≦y≦4.03)

The "Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1 / T. has been measured for orientedpowders of La. .(Sr, Ba).CuO, in a wide concentration range. The spin dynamics ina lightly doped nonsuperconductor, La....Sr...CuO...., is found to be qualitativelysimilar to that of a moderately doped high T. superconductor, La...,Sr...,Cu0.... Theantiferromagnetic correlation length in the latter is estimated to be reduced by a facfor of - 2. The normal state spin dynamics has been successfully observed down to liquid helium temperature for La.ggBa(,..zCu0..., The result showed a monotonousdecrease of 1 /T. with somewhat sublinear temperature dependence below 100 K.I"Cu, NMR, spin dynamics, high temperature superconductivity, La. ..Sr. ll Cub., La. .Ba.Cu0.l
