"'Te M6ssbauer absorption measurements have been carried out for Te-Se mixedchains confined in the one-dimensional channels oj ' mordenite crystals as well as forthe mixed chains in trigonal crystalline and amorphous phases. "'I M6ssbauer emis-sion spectra have been also taken for "'T e labeled amorphous and trigonal Te-Se mix-lures. The quadrupole splitting at the "'Te atom is found to be appreciably larger forthe isolated chains than for the trigonal mixtures, suggesting that the anisotropy of Tebonding is increased by reducirng the interchain coupling between the adjacent chains. Both "'Te and "'I M6ssbauer results indicate that the molecular character is muchstronger in the amorphous phase than in the trigonal phase.
