DC Hall Effect of the Low-T_c State of β-(BEDT-TTF)_2I_3

The Hall effect was studied in /7-(BEDT-TTF).1, in order to survey the problem ofthe low-7'. and the high-7'. states and the general irtterest to the Fermi surface of thismaterial. i) Our measurement revealed that this material is a unetal with almost con-stant hole numbers down to 20 K. By the estimate of 7?.= l / nec, the hole numberseems to be less than one per unit cell. 11) In the temperature dependence of 7?. indetail, we found a pronounced stepwise decrease by 8% in Hall voltage when tempera-ture is lowered through 175 K but not through 110 K. iii) Further, below 20 K, Hallvoltage was found to decrease. Possible reasons for such phenomena are discussed.
