Interchain hopping of solitons and polarons in polyacetylene is studied by nuutaerical si?nulation of their rnotion trnder an electric field. Use is made of the Str-Schrieffer-Heeger tmodelsupplemented with intrachain electron-electron interactions and dopant potentials. We find thatcharged solitons can hop to the opposite chain by forrning botmnd jcairs (bipolarons). For the caseof polarons also, hopping in a pair is nuore favorable than single polaron hopping. Interchainhopping of a polaron pair is unore efficient than that of a soliton pair.
