Pressure Dependence of Magnetic Transition Temperatures and Lattice Parameter in an Antiferromagnetic Ordered Alloy Mn_3Pt

The ordered alloy Mn3Pt is an antiferromagnet (AF) which shows an AF(D)-AF(F)transition at 7'.=365 K below the N<:el temperature of the F phase 7'.(F) of 475 K.The pressure dependence of magnetic transition temperatures was studied up to 9.8kbar. By application of pressure, r.(r) decreases with d7'.(F)/d7'= -7K/kbarandT. increases with dT./dP=14K/kbar. Above 3.2kbar, the antiferromagnetic Fphase disappears, only the D phase appears and its Neel temperature 7'.(D) increaseswith dI.(D)/dP=5K/kbar with further increase in pressure. The pressuredependence of lattice parameter was measured up to 52 kbar. The volume cornpressibility was obtained to be 0.9 X 10 ' kbar '. The magnetic transition temperalure vs pressure and lattic parameter phase diagrams were determined.
