Pressure Effect on the Magnetic Transition Temperatures in the Intermetallic Compounds Mn_3MC (M=Ga,Zn and Sn)

The pressure effect on the rnagnetic transition temperatures of Mn.GaC, Mn.ZnCand Mn.SnC were measured trnder pressures up to 13 kbar. l'he pressure derivativesof the transition temperatures are obtained to be dT./ dP= -3.5K/kbar andd7'./dP=O.4K/kbar for Mn.GaC, dT./dP= -0.9K/kb;tr and T./dP=O forMn,ZnC and dT./ dP= - 1 .9 K/ kbar for Mn.SnC, where T. and T. are the magneticorder-order transition temperature and the Curie temperature, respectively. An intermediate magnetic phase (I) is induced in Mn.GaC under pressures above 3 kbar.The triple point (Antiferro./ l/Ferro.) was determined to be T.= 158K and P.=3kbar. The temperature variations of magnetization, magnetic susceptibility and Ratlice parameter were also measured.
