Electron Diffusion in a Two-Dimensional Disordered Symplectic System with Electron-Phonon Interactions(Condensed Matter : Electronic Structure, Electrical, Magnetic and Optical Properties)

The temperature dependence of the electronic diffusion coefficient in a disordered symplectic system with electron-phonon interactions is numerically calculated. Electron-phonon interactions are introduced as the modification of the electronic transfer-integrals due to lattice distortions. In the metallic region, the diffusion coefficient is found to decrease as the temperature increases. The temperature dependence involves two contributions, i.e., the dynamical and the static effects of the random modification of the transfer-integrals. The dynamical effect works as a dephasing effect which reveals itself as a decrease of the diffusion coefficient. On the other hand, the static effect acts as static disorders for the electronic motion. Similar analysis is performed also in the insulating region, and the dynamical effect is found to make the electronic motion diffusive.
