Tlae time-history of particle-diameter and number density of acetylex-xe soot pro-duced in gas phase in the reflected shock wave were obtained from light absorptionsignals of two He-Ne-lasers (1=3.39 pm and 0.6328 7vm). The observed diameter wasbetween 0.1 and 0.4prn. The plaase cla?tnge temperature of soot for various vaporpressure (initial pressure of acetylene) v.'as obtained from the simplified model forsoot formation. From this temperature the latent heat and tlte surface tension ofacetylene soot were estimated from the simplified model for soot production. Thevalues were 7l0kJ/mol for the latent heat and 3300dyne/cm for surface tension.soot formation, acetylexae, slaock wav<:, light extinction, He-Ne laser, modeling
