Photoelectron Spectra of Pure Rh Metal and CuRh Alloys

• The rhotoelectron sr>ectra of the valence bands have been measured on thet>ure Rh metal and Cu-based Rh allovs over the excitation energy range rrom30 eV to 130 eV. The band occurring at 1.25 eV below the Fermi edge with thewidth of 0.5 eV is interpreted as being due to the virtual bound state. From theresult of the virtual bound state the number of the electrons of the Rh virtttalbound state and the phase shift for the d-partial component is estimated to be8.79 electrons and 2.76 radians respectively. A satellite, which can be observed invalence band photoemission spectra for some transition metals, can not bedetected for pure Rh metal.
