Soft X-Ray Absorption and Electronic Structure of Al-Based 3d-Transition Metal Alloys

• Aluminum L.,.- and 3d-transition metal M .,.S -absorption spectra of Al-3d-transition metal alloys are measured. Main alloying effects are the shift of M.,.edue and the broadeninn of Lx,s edue. The amoumt of charne transfer betweenconstituent atoms is estimated from the shift and the parameters of the virtualbound states, and a possibility that the d state of Mn in Al is spin split is suggested.The width of broadeninu of Lz.s edge varies with solute elements from Ti to Niin paralled to the dc resistivity (7l5.=./c), but is observed to be narrower by 5 to 9times than that expected from the 71<.-./c.
