Ion Energy-Loss Spectroscopy for the Collisions of Kr^+(^2P_J) with N_2,CO,NO, and O_2

• Ton enerxv-loss srectra for 1308 eV Kr"('P?) incident on N2, CO, NO and 02were measured. For all molecules, fine-structure transitions between different Jstates of the projectile and vibrational excitations of the molecules were observed.In the case of Nz and NO, the srectra were relativcclv simrle and onl>r the excita-lions of fundamental vibrations were found. For CO and 0., the excitations ofthe harmonics, r=0+2, were ,also observed. In addition to these, for CO, ther>eak due to the rrocess, Kl"("PI/2)-l-CO("I,U=0) ->Kr"('Pszz)-l-CO('I,v'= l), was found. For On, the t>eak due to the electronic excitation in ttte target,'I+'A, was observed as well as the prominent peak corresponding to the process,Kr"("P 1 zz)f0z('I,t?0) 'Kr"('P37z)fOz("A,r"'O).'-' N l-i>:arget,
